Hit the greenways in San Antonio!

HOWARD W. PEAK GREENWAY TRAIL SYSTEM

"The San Antonio City Council voted Sept. 6, 2012, to name the greenway hike and bike trail system for former Mayor Howard W. Peak, chairman of the Linear Creekways Advisory Board, and a long standing advocate who has worked tirelessly on behalf of the greenway program since its inception.

Forty-one miles of developed greenway trails are now open to the public. The Linear Park Development Program for Salado Creek, Leon Creek, Medina River and the San Antonio River is funded through sales tax approved by voters in 2000, 2005 and 2010. Approximately 1,200 acres of property along San Antonio Creekways have been acquired for the program since its inception..."

Síclovía coming April 7th!

Síclovía
is a free event that turns major city streets into a safe place for people to exercise and play.

The streets become temporarily car-free for about 6 hours on Sundays for families to run, ride bikes, take exercise classes and enjoy their city streets.
The modern day Ciclovía originated in Bogotá, Columbia 30 years ago. Bogotá began their program with 8 miles of open streets. Ciclovía was so popular, today, they open over 70 miles of car-free streets to their citizens and connect city parks to provide green spaces for Reclovías."
